Another option to travel to the ranch instead of flying, is to rent a car and drive down from Auckland. This is a fantastic way to see the beautiful North Island. If you are renting a car, we highly recommend you reserve with Hertz as this is the only major company that is located in Whanganui for the car return. Please ensure you check that you have booked for the “Whanganui”, NOT the “Whangārei” Hertz location.

If driving North to South (Auckland, Rotorua or Taupo):

Drive to the National Park then to Raetihi. Please call our Lodge Coordinator when you arrive in Raetihi to check in with us.

You will then turn right onto the main street of Raetihi. Continue driving to Pipiriki, then onto Jerusalem. This is about a 45 minute to 1 hour drive on a very scenic, but windy road.

We will then meet you in Jerusalem to guide you the remainder of the way to the lodge.

If driving South to North (Palmerston North or Wellington):

On your drive to Whanganui, please call our Lodge Coordinator.

Drive out of Whanganui to Upokongaro. It's a short drive until you turn left onto the Whanganui River Road, and drive to Jerusalem.

From Whanganui, it will be about an hour and 15 minute to an hour 30 minute drive.

We will then meet you in Jerusalem to guide you the remainder of the way to the lodge.
